The seventh edition of the Asia Wine Trophy, held from August 18 to 21 in the Korean city of Daejeon, has concluded with spectacular results: 4,386 registered wines corresponding to 962 producers from 34 countries. These respectable figures have not caused to lose the focus to the 130 international jury members who, following the strict rules of the OIV, have awarded a total of 39 Grand Gold medals, 1,106 Gold medals, and 171 Silver medals.
These numbers are not surprising if we consider that the Asia Wine Trophy is, since its first edition in 2013, the largest wine competition in Asia and the only one with important patronages such as OIV (International Organisation for Vine and Wine) or VinoFed. The collaboration between the DWM – Deutsche Wein Marketing and the DIME – Daejeon International Marketing Enterprise has also been a key point in the success of this competition, as both institutions provide the professionalism, know-how and perfect organization that an event of this level demands.
Chan Jun Park, director of the Asia Wine Trophy, declared: “The Asian wine market remains strategic on a global level. The Asia Wine Trophy is the largest international wine contest in Asia so our goal is to maintain our leadership position and continue to offer the best service and quality, meeting and exceeding the expectations of our participants.”
The growth of this wine contest year after year is due to two main factors: First, international participants have discovered the importance of this competition. Second, the unstoppable growth of the local wine market; expectations for the coming years are very positive. In addition, the fact that other events will be held within the framework of the Asia Wine Trophy such as the Asia Wine Business Conference, Discovery of Daejeon or the beloved Daejeon International Wine Fair, provides an extra point of notoriety and repercussion.
The organizers assure that the next edition in 2020 will be, if possible, more successful than the previous ones.
DWM – Deutsche Wein Marketing GmbH is a German company with over 25 years experience in the wine industry, organizing and hosting some of the largest international contests and fairs.
